bwt1213 is an unknown quantity at this point

If you have a Mac desktop, you won't have a virus. That's almost guaranteed; the newer Macs are running UNIX, and you have to allow something to run -- they can't just run without your permission, as they do on Windows.

Spike1007 has received several accolades

Not being a Mac guy, I go by what I read, and the Unix/Linux operating systems are just not targeted as much as the Windows ones. (Plus, they tend to be open-source, so vulnerabilities are discovered fairly quickly.) It doesn't mean that you're immune, but it's less likely that you have a virus or something. (of course, if they know where you're going, some sort of spyware is possible.)

All that aside, online paranoia these days is perfectly reasonable. Some coincidence can be overlooked (we're wired to look for that), but if it goes too far, look out... I wouldn't put it past others to track your internet traffic just using your IP, no virus required. (Others more knowledgeable can correct me. And yes, I know that your outside IP address can encompass a lot of users.)
