I haven't quite decided whether finding a long word is really easier if you know it's there or not. At least if someone has found it, you know there's something to find. (I tend to think that does help.) Otherwise, you never know if you missed one or there was nothing good to begin with. There are rare boards with enough pieces there that I'm sure I could put something really long together, if only I had enough time. Then again, there are others where they put pieces in there, but I'm convinced that they're unusable. I guess that's all part of the fun.

I'm almost positive I played more than 50 games, although I didn't keep track. I played a _LOT_. But I was aiming for a high avg point score so I often just played one word per game. I think my average words per game ended up at about 1.5. Perhaps that's what knocked me out of the competition?
No, words per game couldn't do it. I got 1st place last month (5x5) and I only played maybe three or four games out of several hundred that had two words. I think the 51 game threshold is the defining limit.

But don't let the tough month slow you down! Take a break, play a couple (or one or a few) months just for fun then give it another try!, if you like hunting down long or obscure words it'll feel like a return to normal!

Good advice. Even after giving away the 5x5 trophy last month by playing 1 game under the wrong username, I still like hunting big words, albeit not full-time. (Is there something seriously wrong with me??? lol)

Default Back on track

After my epic blunder last month where I gave away first place in 5x5, I once again won 2 first place trophies for August. Still feels good!

One thing I'm curious about: does anyone know of any previous 4x4 and 5x5 avg pts/word winners who won both the same month? Maybe some of the players who've been around for some time would know, if they see this.

I'm going to retire now from tooting my own horn about it and just quietly go about my business.

Congratulations on another pair of hard-won trophies thinkbig! I hope you can keep the streak going!

And a belated thanks for the blunder, that's my one and only first-place trophy!
