DISCOMBOBULATING, 40 points, 16 letters, on a board played 46 times (previous longest word only 8 letters). Satisfying.

I've played a lot of Boggle, starting with 4x4 & moving to 5x5. Scoring there was pretty much the same, based on word length only. When I started with WordTwist, I stuck with 5x5. I've adjusted to scoring there (although the "rareness" can still throw me.) Obviously there's a big difference between 4x4 & 5x5 scoring. Anybody want to give me the short version?

Not 100 percent sure about rare and wide scoring, but common is word length - 1 and ultra-rare is (word length - 1) x 2

Hope that's what you meant, -- Justno/InsertNameHere

Thanks, but I was wondering how DISCOMBOBULATING is worth 40 points in the 4x4. There must be different multipliers (and possibly max word scores) than 5x5. (This is really just idle curiosity, since I'm not planning to play the 4x4 any time soon.)

You know, now I'm looking back at that, it can't be right. Must have been late and I got my wires crossed. I have no idea where that number came from, but I don't think it was a particularly high scoring word. SORRY!

No problem. I've done that myself when reporting on points I got for a word.

Anyway, I was just lazy. I should have looked at the old high scores for 4x4. Going back a few months, the best I found was 32 points. That's about what I'd expect with 5x5 scoring, so I guess justno was right.
