Swiping has its drawbacks, since you actually have to find the word path. Of course, typing (at least my typing) also has its drawbacks. It's amazing what can come from my fingers.

I can't swipe as fast or accurately as I can type, but sometimes with a convoluted word, I use it to figure out what letters are available for suffixes or prefixes.

It's bitten me a few times when I've accidentally terminated a partial word and had it scored as a 4-5 letter word. Since I'm playing for highest average word score, I generally have to quit the board at that point.

That brings back memories. I ruined quite a few games that way. I had to train myself to never lift the stylus if I thought I missed a letter or went on the wrong path. I just swipe across a bunch of random letters first and then lift it to start over.

Haha, good line. I think it's more of club you'd like to rap yourself on the head with. Like me just now when I saw BIOMETEOROLOGY as time expired after playing METEOROLOGY some time before. Whack, whack, bash

I imagine it's the drawbacks of swiping that just won me two records... Sorry, lalatan, you held the previous ones with MATERIALNESS (22 points) and IMMATERIALNESS (14 letters), but I found a different swiping path for IMMATERIALNESSES (30 points, 16 letters). You still have a chance to win back the best word record if MATERIALNESSES happens to be worth more, because I didn't try that one.

Haha, good for you kate! Good eye and nice find. You are definitely a superior swiper. Congrats on being in the top 10 last month in 5x5.

The joy of finding 'preciousness' quickly left when time ran out in the midst of adding 'precociousness'. Mr Head, may I introduce you to Mr Wall.

Put together RETRO and REFLECTORS and rushed to type them as the clock counted down. I must have misspelled in my haste, cuz the record shows that the best/longest is in fact:

RETROREFLECTORS (28 pts) by Spike1007

Now the question becomes: what the heck is a RETROREFLECTOR?
Answer: A retroreflective device or surface.

And retroreflective:
Tending to reflect light back to its source with a minimum scattering of light.

Thanks, Lexic.us.

That's how it goes some days. You could get another chance to play it again. I had to wait 5 days to play INTERRELATEDNESSES for 2 records after I missed it the first time. I got RELATEDNESSES early in the game the first time and didn't notice inter- or think about it until it was too late. But I got a second chance. (I hope you picked a soft wall. )
