Hi folks -

Since I generally end up asking the same basic questions every time someone reports a bug, I thought it would be better to route all bug reports through a single form:

If you encounter a problem, just click the "Report a bug" link at the bottom right of each page. That will automatically pre-populate a form with your account information as well as critical information such as the type of operating system and browser you're using, as well as the URL you came from. All of this helps enormously when trying to replicate and squash bugs in the system.

Bug Update: Timer Won't Start

A couple of players have sent in bug reports indicating that the game timer on rare occasions doesn't start for them, which results in them being unable to complete a game. This unfortunately can happen in rare instances when server load is at a peak and an invalid response comes back from the timer script, but I believe I've implemented a solution now that should allow folks to "jumpstart" the timer if/when this happens again.

If you notice a new game has loaded without a timer in the upper right-hand corner, don't panic - just enter your first word as you normally would. Once you submit your first word this new script will check to see if the timer's been started, and if not, it'll give it a little kick in the pants to get it moving. It will continue to check the timer every time you submit a word until its good and sure that the countdown is working. I've tested this in Internet Explorer and Firefox and it seems to work nicely, with no ill-effects on regular gameplay.
