I've made some mentions of this in the past but just wanted to make it "official" that we've now launched our ongoing, monthly competitions for those who want to play a bit more competitively. All players who are logged into a registered account are automatically entered into each month's competitions, and in fact we've been tracking monthly scores for August since the 1st of the month already. You can view the current rankings for August 2007 at:

http://boggled.org/monthly1.php

Each month we'll have the "standard" competition for most points accrued that month, but we'll also have side-competitions for the highest average score per game, average words found per game, and average score per word. Honorable mentions will also be handed out to players who find particularly long or high-scoring words during competitive play.

At the end of every month the scores will be tallied, and the top 20 players ranked in each of our four competitions will receive appropriate trophy icons on their profile pages. These will accumulate from month to month, so those who compete and win from month-to-month will have a nicely-stocked "trophy room" to show for their efforts. :-)

Some basic rules:

- only players who have tallied 50 or more games in a given month will be eligible for the "average score/words" competitions.

- players who wish to play while logged in, but do not wish to have their scores tallied for competition, can opt out - just send me (admin) a private message requesting that you be removed from competitive play

If you have any questions, please feel free to post them here - otherwise, happy solving and best of luck with the new competitions!

- Stephen

Let the games begin! lol It's great fun. Also, the mouse is a plus for those of us who are terrible typists (like me). Thanks for all the new additions.

Am I doing something wrong? I have to type everything, and I am slow at it. I have tried to mouse the letters and it ends up high- lighting the whole row. HELP

Hi Holly -

I responded to your email last night - if you still have any problems please let me know and we'll sort them out. Thanks!

I use the mouse and it's much better for people like me who are rotten typists. But it would be great if we could click and drag as just clicking really slows you down. Is there a way to do that (click and drag)? Thanks for your help. This is a fun site.

I prefer to use the mouse as well, but I find it very difficult to use it on this game. Each letter has to be clicked separately. I agree with jackpat and would also like it if you could drag the mouse over each letter and click on the last letter to enter the word. I am used to playing that way, and find I'm too slow with the single letter clicking. That's why I have been typing in the words. However, since I'm rushing so fast to type the letters in the word, my fingers start to get "tangled up" towards the end.

I have to click on "submit" almost every time to put in my first word. Then I have to click back in the box before it will let me enter the second word...bah...I lose about 15 seconds right off the bat.

Is there any way around it?
