http://weboggle.shackworks.com/ - boggle, 4x4 & 5x5 boards, classic rules, liveplay with sometimes up to 200 people, but no chat (with the amount of bigotry on there, it's probably a good thing). no records, pressure-free play.
http://www.iwin.com - tangleword (register, click "online games" tab and in the far right hand column). tangleword is like boggle/word racers. you get more points for being the first one to get the word. there are always players, and some players are really too good. see the boggle savants in action, real-time. standard games are 2 minutes long, with a minimum of 4, 5, or 6 letters. but you can configure your own games, including board size/time length.
http://games.yahoo.com - under word games: word racers. kind of where it all began for me. you have to be the first to get a word, once it's taken, it's gone. so what you see/find in the first 10 seconds is crucial. so speed > ability to scope out long words, in general. one game: four rounds, four different shapes. 3 min each. other games featured on yahoo: literati (online version of scrabble), and graffiti (drawing game, like pictionary).
http://www.tetrinet.org http://www.tetrinet2.com - ok, for tetris lovers. this is about making tetrises as fast as you can to add lines to opponents' fields. quite addicting. i haven't played in years because i'm on a mac now. the first link is to the original client (delays between pieces is pretty long), and tetrinet2 is the latest one, where there are no delays between pieces (people often drop over 160pieces per minute).
http://www.typera.tk - typing speed test. 2 minutes of random sentences or 1 minute of random words. available in different languages.
http://www.setgame.com - set! a visual perception game. the rules are a bit confusing at first. the website offers one daily puzzle. you might win a game :) the game itself is 12 bucks. you can also buy the pc version. other games to check out: quiddler
http://www.scrabulous.com - scrabble ! play against other people or the computer. solitaire mode.
