View Full Version : Questions about Words Found

Three small questions:

1. Has anyone ever single-handedly and without cheating found 100% of the words on a board on this site? I have done it or seen it done on different Boggle Facebook apps (Scramble, Prolific and Noggin; I have been one word short of it in Letterific), but I was wondering whether it happens much here and, if one were to find 100% of the words on the board, whether there would be some easy way to tell.

2. Along the same lines, would it be possible to have the words on the board of different length table count down as you find the words, and also for it to appear on the results page, perhaps with the percentage of the words on the board that you found by yourself? The total possible points on the board would also be particularly helpful.

3. Is there any way of finding out how much a particular word is worth without playing it in a game? I know the SOWPODS dictionary pretty well and it would be interesting to figure out, for instance, which clusters and anagram sets are the most valuable points-wise.

It's certainly theoretically possible, as there are people who are able to type fast enough to get all the words on many of the boards. I think it would be very difficult and have a huge amount of luck involved, though. I don't know Prolific and Noggin, but Scramble does not use SOWPODS - it has a much smaller dictionary.

Is there a SOWPODS list somewhere with the rare, common, ultra-rare, etc, listings? From that you could figure out the scoring of the words.

Wordtwist's home page has a list of all valid 3 letter words with their
classification (i.e. ultra) and point value. The only way I know to
find point values for longer words played by others is to read the
answers on every board you play; also a good way to find the really
high scoring and longest words.
