I've played about 4200 games (5x5 only) and it struck me that I haven't come across a game with more than one of the same consonant other than l,n,r,s,t. Why is this? Have I just not played enough games?

Has anyone experienced a board with other double consonants? It would be good to see some boards with other doubles.

It is the way the game has been programmed.
I don't know how easy it would be to change the programme, but it would be an interesting change, even if they could be 2x the letters outside the big 4(jzxq).
I did suggest it not long after the 5x5's were launched.
Maybe by public demand?
There was not any 2x letter "L" in the 5x5's, but I've not played for awhile.

You may be right about 2x"l" - I was working from memory which is always a bit dodgy.

Yep, I think it would be quite interesting, too. Sometimes I feel like I'm typing the same words over and over again.

I totally agree. There's a lot of repetition, and it seems odd that there can't be two of some of these letters. I don't think there are any 4X4s with two Ds either (not sure about 5X5 since I never play them.)

How often are the letters ERN down in the right lower corner of a 4X4, with the N in the cornermost square? Pretty commonly.

I notice that DEF is in the top left corner.
