Hello, Stephen!
Thanks a lot for the great job you are doing with the site. I am Russian but I really enjoy the game (got used to playing Boggle while living in the UK).
I have one request: is it possible to add one feature to the board's statistics shown before/after the game?
I beleive, to see the average score by all players on the particular board could be very useful and informative.
It also allows you to compare yourself not only with the top scorer (those maniacs are sometimes quite impossible to beat :) ), but with the average player's result on the board.
Thanks a lot in advance.

Hello -
Thanks for the kind words! You'll be happy to know that average scores and average words are now being tracked for every game board as of today. I'm going to hold off on publishing them at the end of each game until every game has been played a sufficient number of times, since an "average" is really only meaningful if it has a significant amount of data behind it.
I'll make another post here once we've got enough data in the system for these board-specific numbers to be meaningful - I expect that will be in about a week or two.
Thanks for playing!

I like the new feature! It's nice to see what the averages are and how my scores compare. What a great idea! :)

Stephen,
Another great feature. Even though I get frustrated with myself because I'm a terrible typist and so I use the mouse (a holdover from my old atari online game playing), I love playing here.
Thanks for a great site,

I agree. The average is useful, and fun. Thanks for adding the average for games.
Wait, I don't like the average anymore. I just scored below it. Yuch.
When I look at the bell curve of scores, I notice that there are gradations of color on each side of the mean. Is the standard deviation represented on the curve that is displayed?

I love the new addition of averages to the site!
I just wondered if instead of reporting average number of words what about reporting average percent of words found. That way, whether you are playing a very large board with many words to be found or a small board with few words to be found it would be ranked the same?
I read a comment a while back that said some people were only playing boards with lots of words to be found. Wouldn't that possbily eliminate that.

What would you think of adding a blank line between the average scores and the high scores in the puzzle stats? I think it would make it easier (for me, at least) to parse all those numbers when I look at them. Something like:
Played: 18 times
Average Score: 222.7 points
Average Words: 52.3 words
High Score: 243 points by jjcan
Most Words: 58 words by jjcan
Best Word: NOX (8 pts) by occipudding
Longest Word: SOURS (5 letters) by bluespacething
just an idea...

Thank you so much for the new feature and all the work you do on here!! I love it!! Especially on the rare occasion when I am above average. :D

Such a great site -- you're truly a wizard. I know this is pushing it, but median score (i.e., the 50th percentile) would be really useful in cases where the high scores create a positively skewed data curve in which the mean is markedly > the median. (Of course, that might not be case here, but my ego seems unable to allow that half of all players actually score above the average, which would be representative of a normal bell curve). In general, if you order n scores from lowest to highest, the median is the n/2th value.
I hope I haven't succeeded in both insulting your intelligence by defining median at such length and fully frustrating you with the clamoring cry for more, more, more! Thanks for your site and all the work you've done.

I realize a lot is being asked of the admin, but one thing I'd like to see, as a stats noob, is a labeled explanation of the averages chart. It seems obvious, but there could be details I'm overlooking on it. Maybe I'm not the only thicko 'round here.:)

Although it's depressing to know that one is indeed, below average, I think the chart is great--especially when large numbers of people have played the board and you find out you're not quite so bad as you thought.
I wish it could be placed below the "found words," though, because I the player has to scroll back and forth between the board and the words in order to see where they are.
Great game--thanks for all the new boards!
